Shelter Insurance closed out the season at 10-2 overall by beating GKC-CPA’s 16-8 in Little League softball at New Franklin.
Sophia Held picked up the win in the circle for Shelter Insurance while Justice Singleton took the loss for GKC-CPA’s. Held pitched three innings and struck out seven batters while giving up eight runs on three hits and nine walks. Singleton, meanwhile, pitched 1/3 inning and gave up seven runs on six walks. Lydia Burnett then came in and pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief and allowed nine runs on four hits and five walks.
Rylee Mehrhoff led the hitting attack in the game for Shelter Insurance with one triple while Lily Chitwood, Sophia Held and Natalie Frey each had one double.
For GKC-CPA’s, Justice Singleton finished the game with two doubles while Heaven-Lee Hundley added one single.
In the second game, GKC-CPA’s defeated Exchange Bank in a slugfest by a score of 18-14.
GKC-CPA’s, which closed out the season at 5-7 overall, scored 17 unanswered runs in the first three innings before giving up 14 runs in the final three innings.
Jayna Matthews led all hitters in the game for GKC-CPA’s with four singles. Justice Singleton, Katelynn Neal, Callie Chitwood and Jaida Frye each had three singles while Heaven-Lee Hundley added one double and one triple, Gracie Martin with one single and one double, Chloe Chitwood with two singles and Lydia Burnett, Lilly Kaullen and Makenzie Martin each with one single.
For Exchange Bank, which finished the season at 3-9 overall, Natalie Wiseman had three single and one triple. Ella Oser finished the game with two singles and one triple while Kira Wilson added three singles, Kendall Wells with two singles and Braylynn Craig-Payne, Lydia Hepner, Katie Hunter and Lilly Washburn each with one single.
