Noah Hackman hit for the cycle with a single, double, triple and home run, and teammate Reid Hackman added two singles and two doubles to lead Shelter Insurance past Chipley and Company 10-2 in Instructional League play Saturday in New Franklin.
Chipley and Company led 2-0 after the first inning against Shelter Insurance but then gave up one run in the second, three again in the third, four in the fourth and two in the sixth to suffer the loss.
Cooper Hull also had four hits in the game with four singles while Payton Nichols added three singles, Luke Chitwood one single and one triple, Belle Chitwood one single and one double, Hayden Porneluzi with two singles and Addison Forbis and Jade Forbis each with one single.
For Chipley and Company, Korinna Chitwood had one single and one triple. Mason McGruder added one double and one triple while Levi Humphrey contributed two singles, Ryder Hopkins one triple and Braxton Mize with one single.
Exchange Bank 20, Jennings Premium Meats 4
Exchange Bank scored 12 runs in the first three innings and never looked back, beating Jennings Premium Meats in Instructional League play Saturday in New Franklin.
Exchange Bank opened the game with three runs in the first and then sent five runs across in the second and four again in the third to extend the lead to 12-0. Then, after Jennings Premium Meats plated one run in the top half of the fourth, Exchange Bank came back with three in the bottom half of the inning to make it 15-1. Exchange Bank also outscored Jennings Premium Meats 5-3 in the fifth.
Hudson Shaw finished the game with five hits for Exchange Bank with two singles, one double and two home runs.
Allison Flick also had five hits, all of which went for singles. David Swearengen added one single, two doubles and one home run while Kayden Young had two singles, one double and one home run, Braxton Mize one single and two doubles, Kolton Wells and Kyndal Schnell each with three singles and Zoey Pinet with one single.
For Jennings Premium Meats, Easton Gerding had one single and two triples. Charleigh Collyott finished the game with two singles while Caylub Cox added one triple, Conner Boley one double and Lukas Cook and Thomas Neal each with one single.
Edward Jones 12, GKC-CPA’s 11
Edward Jones held off a rally by GKC-CPA’s in the fifth inning to preserve the victory Saturday in Instructional League play in New Franklin.
Edward Jones opened the game with four runs in the first only to have GKC-CPA’s rally back with four in the top half of the second to tie the game at 4-all. Meanwhile, after Edward Jones plated three more runs in the third, GKC-CPA’s came back and tacked on four in its half of the fourth to go up 8-7. GKC-CPA’s never led again after that as Edward Jones stormed back with five runs in the bottom half of the fourth to regain the lead at 12-8. However in the top half of the fifth, GKC-CPA’s made it interesting by sending across three runs to cut the lead to one.
Quincy Dorson led the hitting attack in the game for Edward Jones with one single and two doubles.
Mia Dobson finished the game with two singles and one double while Haden Davis added one double and one triple, Elijah Woods with one single and one triple, Ryder Dorson with two singles, Colton Schlotzhauer with one double and Crew Wilmsmeyer, Ava Smith, Sophia Crowley and Audrey Dobson each with one single.
For GKC-CPA’s, Josie Chitwood had four singles and one double. Brian Bockting added five singles while Gabriel Cotton had four singles, Hope Thornburg, Colton Long and Jack Lyons each with three singles and Casten Jennings, Cayden Long and Wyatt Terrell each with one single.
