In a much anticipated game Monday night in Cal Ripken Major at the COCOBA ballfield, Central Bank Boone County did just enough to get by QuinlanAgency.com 2-1 to win the tite.
With both teams tied at 9-2 entering the game, Central Bank Boone County jumped out to stay against QA.com while putting up one run in the first and one again in the third. But even then QA.com made it tough for Central Bank Boone County to pull away while tying the game at 1-all in the bottom half of the first. As for the winning run, Central Bank Boone County scored on what turned out to be a wild throw to third on an attempted steal to go up 2-1-a lead they would never relinquish.
Levi Jeffries picked up the win on the mound for Central Bank Boone County, who closed out the season at 10-2, while Tanner Bishop recorded the save. Jeffries pitched the first four innings and struck out four batters while giving up one run on three hits and one walk. Bishop then came in and pitched two innings in relief and allowed one hit while striking out four batters.
For QA.com, Shane Chamberlain took the loss despite striking out six batters in four innings. He also gave up two runs on two hits and three walks. Isaiah Hauptmann then came in and pitched two innings in relief and struck out four batters while giving up two hits.
Central Bank Boone County also had four hits in the game, with Tanner Bishop going 2-for-3 with two singles. Jeffries and Rhodes Leonard each had one single.
For QA.com, who finished the season at 9-3, Hauptmann went 3-for-3 with three singles while Lawson Edwards had one single.
In the nightcap, Rt. B Cafe rallied from a one run deficit after 5 1/2 by scoring two runs in the bottom half of the sixth to beat CARSTAR 6-5.
Rt. B Cafe, who finished the season at 5-7 overall, trailed CARSTAR 2-0 after the first and 5-0 after 2 1/2 before rallying back with six unanswered runs over the next four innings.
Abram Taylor was the pitcher of record in the game for Rt. B Cafe while Luis Green took the loss for CARSTAR, who dropped to 1-11. Dakota Williams started the game and pitched the first four innings and struck out 10 batters while giving up five runs on four hits and four walks. Taylor then came in and pitched two innings in relief and struck out three batters.
For CARSTAR, Tate Rentel started the game and pitched 3 1/3 innings and gave up four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six. Green then came in and pitched 2 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out six batters.
Rt. B Cafe also out-hit CARSTAR 9-5, with Taylor going 4-for-4 with two singles, two doubles and two RBIs. Jacob Thoma was 2-for-3 with two singles and one RBI while Cash Valencia added two singles and Thomas Elliott with one single and two RBIs.
For CARSTAR, Alexander Morris went 2-for-3 with two singles and two RBIs. Green had one double and two RBIs while Tate Rentel and Caidyn Hazel each had one single.
