What was once a four or five team race in Cal Ripken Major has been dwindled down to three teams after Sunday’s games in Cal Ripken Major.
One of the three took a major hit on Sunday by losing to Central Bank Boone County 11-1. As for the remaining two, QuinlanAgency.com helped itself by beating CARSTAR 13-5 while Central Bank Boone County kept pace with the win over Tint Shop.
As of Sunday’s game, Central Bank Boone County and QuinlanAgency.com are currently tied at 7-2 while Tint Shop is 6-4, Rt. B Cafe 4-5, Einspahr Construction 4-6, Sells Carpet 3-7 and CARSTAR 1-8.
With three games on Sunday, Sells Carpet took care of business by knocking off Einspahr Construction 14-2 in five innings.
Although Einspahr Construction defeated Sells Carpet earlier in the season, they were no match on Sunday as Sells Carpet led from start to finish. Of course it didn’t hurt that Sells Carpet exploded right out of the gates with five runs in the top half of the first. However with the 90 degree heat taking its toll on the Einspahr Construction, Sells Carpet continued to add to its run total by plating one run in each of the second and third innings and seven in the fourth.
As for Einspahr Construction, they had only one cause for celebration by pushing across two runs in the bottom half of the third.
Sawyer Felten picked up the win on the mound for Sells Carpet while Garrett Hundley took the loss for Einspahr Construction. Felten pitched the first-three innings and struck out five batters. He also gave up two runs on two hits and two walks. Hundley, meanwhile, pitched the first three innings for Einspahr Construction and gave up seven runs on four hits and five walks while striking out three.
Sells Carpet also dominated Einspahr Construction in the hitting column, with Edrissa Bah-Lamb going 2-for-2 with a double, triple and one RBI.
Eli Stock and Treyton Ginter each had a single, double and three RBIs while Ethan Henderson added one double and two RBIs, Felten with one single and one RBI, Noah Remlinger and Lance Haynes each with one single and Cooper Pfeiffer with one RBI.
For Einspahr Construction, Henry Rohrbach went 1-for-1 with a double and one RBI while Justin Lawrence added one single and one RBI.
In the second game, QuinlanAgency.com scored at least two runs in every inning but one and led CARSTAR 3-0 after one, 6-1 after two and 11-1 after three. Meanwhile, after CARSTAR rallied back with one in the fourth and three again in the fifth, QuinlanAgency.com came back and tacked on two more in the bottom half of the fifth for the win.
Shane Chamberlain was the winning pitcher in the game for QuinlanAgency.com while Gage McKenzie took the loss for CARSTAR. Chamberlain pitched the first four innings and struck out eight batters. He also gave up two runs on four hits. McKenzie, meanwhile, pitched 2 1/3 innings and gave up nine runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out one batter.
Isaiah Hauptmann led the hitting attack in the game for QuinlanAgency.com with two singles, one double and three RBIs.
Shane Chamberlain finished the game with two hits with a single, home run and three RBIs while Evan Bishop and Lawson Edwards added a single, double and two RBIs each, Tyler Wassman with one single and one RBI and Luke Poulsen, Treyveonte Quint and Kaleb Friebe each with one single.
For CARSTAR, Caidyn Hazel went 3-for-3 with one single, two doubles and one RBI while Alexander Morris and Trenton Schoen added one single and one RBI each.
In the final game, Central Bank Boone County opened the game with five runs in the first and then added two in the third and four again in the fourth.
Tint Shop scored its only run of the ballgame in the top half of the fourth.
Tanner Bishop pitched all four innings for the win for Central Bank Boone County while Bentley Turner took the loss for Tint Shop. In four innings, Bishop struck out 10 batters and gave up one run on one hit and two walks. Turner, meanwhile, pitched three innings and yielded seven runs (two earned) on two hits and six walks while striking out four.
Central Bank Boone County also out-hit Tint Shop 4-1, with Tanner Bishop and Rhodes Leonard collecting one single and one RBI each.
Blake Griffin and Tyson White each had one single while Jaeshua Barber drove in three runs and Connor Wilmsmeyer and Chase Amos each with one RBI.
For Tint Shop, Ethan Watson homered and drove in one run.
