Brooke Eichelberger did a little bit of everything for Caterpillar in Babe Ruth 16U softball Wednesday night at Rolling Hills park.
While picking up the win in the circle for Caterpillar with seven strikeouts in four innings, Eichelberger also led the team in hitting with a double, home run and two RBIs in a 8-4 win over Custom Weatherproofing.
Of course it wasn’t always easy for Caterpillar, as they trailed 3-2 after one and 4-2 after 2 1/2. However for the next two innings, Caterpillar dominated Custom Weatherproofing by pushing across three runs in the bottom half of the third and three again in the fourth for the victory.
In addition to striking out seven batters, Eichelberger also gave up just four runs on three hits and two walks. Rachel Massa took the loss for Custom Weatherproofing, who dropped to 4-6, by giving up eight runsd on six hits and four walks while striking out four batters.
Kyra Perkins tripled and drove in one run for Caterpillar, who improved to 7-5 on the season, while Ashlen Homan added one double and one RBI, Reese Lavers with one single and one RBI, Alyssa Gross with one single and Alexis Davis with two RBIs.
For Custom Weatherproofing, Rachel Massa doubled while Cheyenne Thurman and Hannah Coffelt added one single and one RBI and Chassidy Taylor with one RBI.
Excel 4, Cooper County Land Title 2
Excel rallied from a 2-0 deficit after 4 1/2 innings by scoring four runs in the bottom half of the fifth to beat Cooper County Land Title in Babe Ruth 16U softball Wednesday night at Rolling Hills park.
Excel, improving to 5-3 on the season, trailed CCLT 1-0 after one and 2-0 after three before the rally in the fifth.
Emma West picked up the win in the circle for Excel while Brooke Stone took the loss for CCLT, who dropped to 4-6 on the season. West pitched all six innings and struck out eight batters while giving up two runs on four hits. Stone, meanwhile, pitched the first four innings and gave up two runs on one walk while striking out six. Ginna Meisenheimer then came in and pitched one inning in relief and allowed two runs on one hit and two walks while striking out one batter.
Excel had only one hit in the ballgame on the two-RBI double by Grace Williams.
For CCLT, who dropped to 4-6, Cara Bishop went 2-for-3 with a single, double and one RBI. Broklyn King and Olivia Meisenheimer each had one single.
