Shelter Insurance picked up two wins last week in Little League Softball at New Franklin by beating Exchange Bank 13-6 and GKC-CPA’s 7-3.
In the first game against Exchange Bank, Shelter Insurance opened the game with three runs in the first and then sent five runs across in each of the second and third innings of play. Exchange Bank, meanwhile, plated all six runs in the second inning.
Sophia Held picked up the win in the circle for Shelter Insurance while Faith Painter took the loss for Exchang Bank. Held pitched 1 2/3 innings and struck out three batters while giving up five runs on four walks. Painter, meanwhile, pitched all three innings and gave up 13 runs on four hits and 10 walks while striking out six.
Lily Chitwood, Rylee Mehrhoff, Gracie Evans and Huntir Lyons each had one single in the game for Shelter Insurance.
In the second game, GKC-CPA defeated Exchange Bank 16-8.
GKC-CPA’s never trailed in the game against Exchange Bank and led 3-0 after one, 4-0 after two and 8-0 after three. Meanwhile, after both teams put up three runs in the fourth, GKC-CPA’s came back and tacked on five more runs in the top-half of the fifth to make it 16-3. Then for the rest of the game, Exchange Bank plated two runs in the bottom half of the fifth and three again in the sixth to cut the lead in half.
Justice Singleton led GKC-CPA’s with one single, two triples and one home run.
Lilly Kaullen and Jayna Matthews each had a single and a double while Jaida Frye added two singles, Heaven Lee Hundley one double and Gracie Martin, Skylar Greenwood, Makenzie Martin, Lydia Burnett, Chloe Chitwood and Callie Chitwood each with one single.
For Exchange Bank, Faith Painter had one single and two triples. Lydia Hepner added one single and one double while Natalie Wiseman and Kaley Skaggs had two singles each, Ella Oser with one triple, Lilly Washburn with one double and Madison Painter, Kira Wilson and Kendall Wells each with one single.
In the final game, Shelter Insurance led GKC-CPA’s 4-2 after one and 6-2 after two. Meanwhile, after GKC-CPA’s cut the lead in half with one run in the bottom half of the third, Shelter Insurance came back and tacked on one in the fifth for the victory.
Lily Chitwood led the hitting attack in the game for Shelter Insurance with four singles.
Sophia Held and Natalie Frey each had three singles while Canna Jennings and Alivia Holstun added two singles each and Natalie Curry and Baylie Bonecutter with one single apiece.
For GKC-CPA’s, Justice Singleton had one single and one home run while Lilly Kaullen added two singles and Gracie Martin, Makenzie Martin and Callie Chitwood each with one single.
