Cooper County Land Title and Caterpillar picked up wins in Babe Ruth 16U softball Sunday at Rolling Hills park.
Cooper County Land Title defeated Higbee in a doubleheader by the scores of 8-7 and 18-3 while Caterpillar upended Higbee in the final game by a score of 16-4.
Cooper County Land Title, improving to 4-5 after the sweep, trailed Higbee in the opening game by a score of 4-0 after 2 1/2 before rallying back with two runs in the third and three again in the fourth to go up 5-4. Meanwhile, in the fifth, Higbee tacked on three more runs to lead 7-5 only to have CCLT add two runs in the bottom-half of the inning to tie the game at 7-all. Then, after Higbee failed to score in its half of the sixth, CCLT came back and scored the winning run in the bottom-half of the inning for the victory.
Brooke Stone picked up the win in the circle for CCLT while Izzy Boggs took the loss for Higbee. Stone pitched all six innings and gave up seven runs on six hits and five walks while striking out six. Boggs, meanwhile, pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief and gave up three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five batters.
Cara Bishop had the only extra base hit in the ballgame for CCLT with one double and three RBIs. Taylor Simmons finished the game with one single and two RBIs while Broklyn King and Ginna Meisenheimer added one single and one RBI each, Daylynn Baker with one single and Gwen Yarnell with one RBI.
For Higbee, who actually out-hit CCLT 6-5, Grace Westfall had two singles. Macey Whisenand finished the game with one single and two RBIs while Julie Johnson, Alexis Whisenand and Alie Mitchell added one single and one RBI each and Shelby Clark and Kenyana Redifer each with one RBI.
In the second game, CCLT left little doubt against Higbee while exploding for all 18 runs in the first-three innings.
After pushing across eight runs in the top-half of the first, CCLT came back and tacked on seven more runs in the second and then plated three in the third to win by the mercy rule. Higbee, meanwhile, scored two runs in the first and one in the third.
Ginna Meisenheimer was the winning pitcher in the game for CCLT while Izzy Boggs took the loss for Higbee. Meisenheimer pitched the first-three innings and gave up three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four batters. Boggs, meanwhile, pitched 2/3 inning and gave up eight runs on four hits and six walks while striking out one batter.
CCLT also out-hit Higbee 7-4, with Daylynn Baker going 3-for-3 with two singles, one triple and four RBIs. Taylor Simmons was 2-for-3 with two singles and two RBIs while Cara Bishop and Brooke Stone added one single and one RBI each  and Broklyn King with one RBI.
For Higbee, Lexi Boyd went 2-for-2 with a single, triple and one RBI. Grace Westfall also had two hits with two singles.
In the final game, Higbee led Caterpillar 4-2 after three complete innings but it was pretty much all Caterpillar after that with 14 unanswered runs over the final two innings for a 16-2 victory.
Brooke Eichelberger was the winning pitcher in the game for Caterpillar, who improved to 6-5, while Lexi Boyd took the loss for Higbee, who dropped to 1-10. Eichelberger pitched all five innings and struck out 12 batters while giving up four runs on four hits and five walks. Boyd, meanwhile, pitched five innings and gave up 16 runs on 13 hits and six walks while striking out six batters.
Caterpillar also out-hit Higbee 13-4, with Brooke Eichelberger going 3-for-4 with one double, two triples and three RBIs.
Ashlen Homan finished the game with three singles and one RBI while Alyssa Gross added a double, triple and three RBIs, Becky Evans with a single, triple and one RBI, Paige Shelton with two singles and three RBIs, Reese Lavers with one single and Alexis Davis with two RBIs.
For Higbee, Kylleen Gibson had one single and two RBIs while Grace Westfall, Izzy Boggs and Alie Mitchel added one single each and Macey Whisenand with one RBI.
