The Prairie Home boys and girls track teams may have been small in numbers over the weekend while competing in the Class 1 Sectional 3 Track Meet at South Callaway.
With only six members of the track team participating, head coach Marie Pope said this was a pretty impressive showing for the track program. “It was a beautiful day thanks to the clouds, who held off the heat for most of the afternoon. Overall, a fantastic afternoon to be a Panther.”
Although the Panthers didn’t have anyone qualify for state, they did have several outstanding performances. Clayton Pethan finished fifth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 53.83 seconds.
Senior Sage Eichenburch finished sixth in the 1600-meter run in a time of 4:57.26.
Blake Petsel placed seventh in the 100-meter dash in 11.84 seconds and eighth in the 200-meter dash in 23.66 seconds.
The 4 x 100-meter relay team and the 4 x 400-meter relay team of Pethan, Creed Flood, Petsel and Eichenburch also placed seventh overall in times of 48.89 seconds and 4:02.53.
As for the Prairie Home girls, freshman Kourtney Kendrick finished seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 30’-1/2”.
