It came as no surprise that Jamestown’s Trenton Barbour and Calvary Lutheran’s Haley Braun were selected as MVPs in the Cooper County Activities Association for the 2017-18 season.
After all, Barbour and Braun did lead their teams to the conference title.
In the final team standings for the girls, Calvary Lutheran finished a perfect 4-0 while Prairie Home and Bunceton both tied for second at 2-2 and Higbee and Jamestown in the fourth spot at 1-3.
As for the boys final team standings in the CCAA conference, Jamestown also finished 4-0 while Prairie Home placed second at 3-1, Higbee third at 2-2, Calvary Lutheran fourth at 1-3 and Bunceton fifth at 0-4.
Emma Homfeldt was also selected to the first team for Calvary Lutheran.
Other players selected to the first team were Kourtney Kendrick and Maggie Wood of Prairie Home, Lauren Wieland of Bunceton, Geocie Sager, Jillian Huddleston, Alexis Whisenand and Grace Westfall of Higbee and Blake Scholl of Jamestown.
Honorable-mention all-conference selections were Katy Allen and Abbie Klatt of Calvary Lutheran, Taylor Burnett and Chloe Moser of Bunceton, Ashlyn Twenter of Prairie Home, Sam Nelson of Higbee and McKenzie Hargis of Jamestown.
As for the Jamestown boys, who are still playing in the postseason, the Eagles had all five members named to the first team.
Joining Barbour on the first team were Garrett Wolfe, Austin Flippin, Cole Theissen and Clark Rohrbach.
Prairie Home senior Creed Flood was the only first team selection for the Panthers.
Higbee again had three players selected all-conference in seniors John Schnell, Wade Spilman and sophomore William Gibson while Calvary Lutheran placed two on the first team in seniors Jimmie Wehmeyer and R.J. Mays.
Honorable-mention selections were sophomores Clayton Pethan and Kassen Lock of Prairie Home, junior Brayden Doyle of Bunceton, senior Matt Allen of Calvary Lutheran and senior Jason Hudson of Higbee.
