Bunceton senior Lauren Wieland had 30 points and 13 rebounds, and teammate Taylor Burnett added 16 points, five rebounds and three assists to lead the Lady Dragons past Jamestown 60-54 in CCAA action Friday night in Jamestown.
The Lady Dragons, improving to 9-11 on the season, trailed Jamestown after the first-two periods by the score of 28-21. Meanwhile after both teams put in 17 points in the third quarter, Bunceton made its move by outscoring the Lady Eagles 22-9 for the victory.
Bunceton coach Brian Emde said the girls played a great game. “We trailed after every quarter and put it all together in the fourth,” Emde said. “Taylor Burnett made two big three pointers in the fourth and Lauren Wieland shot 8 of 11 from the free throw line. Cara Bishop came in in the fourth quarter and scored two big baskets and played great defense. Wieland also had a career high of 30 points and finished with a double-double with 13 rebounds. Burnett came up big scoring double figures with 16. The girls played a tremendous game and never quit and it paid off.”
Wieland also had three steals and three assists in the game for the Lady Dragons.
Emily Clevenger finished the game with five points, five rebounds, three steals and three assists while Chloe Moser added five points, seven rebounds, one steal and one assist and Cara Bishop with four points and one rebound.
For the game, Bunceton hit on 23 of 54 shots from the field for 43 percent and 10 of 18 from the foul line for 56 percent.
Jamestown was led by Chiane Harlan with 16 points and Blake Scholl with 14.
