Pilot Grove senior Emily Schupp had the best of both worlds Wednesday night in the consolation semifinals in the Wildcat Classic in Slater.
While leading the Lady Tigers past Slater 82-56 with 22 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, five steals and five blocked shots, Schupp also picked up her 1,000th point in the process.
Of course the Lady Tigers struggled early on against Slater while playing to a 12-12 tie after one. However it was all Pilot Grove after that while leading the Wildcats 35-20 at the break and 56-39 after three.
Reagan Walker also finished the game with 18 points, eight assists, six rebounds and two steals while Melanie Wolfe added 18 points, seven rebounds, two steals and one assist. Chloe Schlotzhauer also had 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists and one steal while Kaitlen Weekley added four points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal, Danae Lammers three points and one rebound, Abby Schupp three rebounds, two assists and one steal and Aryn Lorenz with one steal.
For Slater, Rylea Meyer had 19, Emilee Grimes 17 and Abby Uhlich with 13.

Keshawn White had 17 points and Jakobie Brashears added 12 to lead the Slater boys past Pilot Grove in the consolation semifinals Wednesday night at Slater.
The Tigers, 1-17 on the season, trailed Slater 33-28 at the half but cut into that lead by outscoring the Wildcats 11-7 in the third to make it 40-39. However in the final period, Slater added some distance between them and the Tigers with a 23-13 advantage for the victory.
Bailey Quint had 16 points, Cole Meisenheimer 14 and Gavin Shepherd 13 to lead Pilot Grove, Anderson Twenter and Donnavan Gerke chipped in four while Cole Mize added one.
Pilot Grove boys and girls draw tough opening games in Slater Wildcat Classic
MONDAY’S GAMES
The Pilot Grove boys and girls basketball teams had a tough opening draw Monday night in the 37th annual Slater Wildcat Classic.
As the No. 8 seed, the Pilot Grove boys faced off against top-seeded Sacred Heart and fell by a score of 75-31. Meanwhile, for the Pilot Grove girls in a No. 4 versus No. 5 matchup, the Lady Tigers dropped a 56-28 decision.
The Pilot Grove boys, dropping to 1-16 on the season, had a horrendous start while trailing Sacred Heart 22-2 after one and 39-9 at the break. The Gremlins also outscored Pilot Grove 36-22 in the second half.
Trent Lyles had 16 and Tucker Nicholson 11 to lead all scorers for Sacred Heart.
For Pilot Grove, Gavin Shepherd had seven, Anderson Twenter and Cole Meisenheimer five each, Derek Powell and Dalton Reuter three each and Laben Twenter, Philip Brown, Donnavan Gerke and Kealin Vinson each with two points.
As for the Pilot Grove girls, they had a little better start while trailing Glasgow by just five (16-11) after first period’s end. However, in the second quarter, the Lady Tigers couldn’t buy a basket while Glasgow came out and put in 13 to lead at the break 29-12. The Lady Yellowjackets also outscored Pilot Grove 27-16 in the second half.
Abby Littrell led three players in double figures for Glasgow with 18 points. Jaden Monnig chipped in 15 and Molly Reynolds 13.
For Pilot Grove, who dropped to 10-7 on the season, Emily Schupp finished the game with 12 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Reagan Walker also scored in double figures with 10 points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist while Chloe Schlotzhauer added three points, four rebounds, four steals and one blocked shot, Reagan McFatrich three points, one rebound and one steal, Kaitlen Weekley six rebounds and one assist and Abby Schupp and Melanie Wolfe each with one assist.
