Junior Dalton Williams finishes third at heavyweight

The Boonville Pirates wrestling team may have been only four strong over the weekend while competing in the Owensville Tournament.
But of the four wrestlers, two placed first in their respective weight classes while another finished third at heavyweight.
Six wrestlers also competed in the Moberly JV Tournament on Saturday.
Boonville Pirates wrestling coach Christian Stock said these guys wrestled really well and finished well today.
“We fell short in that area last weekend,” Stock said. “I think the guys were a little more prepared and maybe hungry after their finishes last weekend.  This tournament allows us to see some teams that we do not normally see in the rest of the season. It always gives us a peak at some of the teams form the south and east side of the state before the state tournament. Brant really dominated his bracket today.  He wrestled very sound fundamental and focused matches today/ Gabe had a couple of tough matches that he wrestled very well in and came out on top.  One of those matches was against Drake Ortiz for the Championship.  It was a close match that Gabe wrestled a very smart and calculated match to come out with the win.”
Just like the week before, freshman Brant Whitaker and senior Gabe Rumbaoa placed first in the 145 and 220 pound weight class, respectively.
Whitaker, improving to 29-2 on the season, finished the tournament with two wins by tech fall, two by falls and one by a major decision.
