Pilot Grove boys fall to Concordia 73-42

The Pilot Grove girls basketball team had little hangover from its loss to Sacred Heart over the weekend in the championship in the Pilot Grove Tiger Classic.
Playing on the road Monday night against the Concordia Orioles, the Lady Tigers put together four good quarters for a 65-45 victory.
As for the Pilot Grove boys, they fell to Concordia by a score of 73-42.
The Lady Tigers, improving to 4-3 on the season, scored in double figures in all four quarters and led Concordia 30-25 at the half and 49-33 after three quarters of play. Meanwhile, in the fourth, Pilot Grove outsored Concordia 16-12.
Junior Emily Schupp finished the game with a double-double for Pilot Grove with 19 points and 10 rebounds. She also had six steals and four assists.
Reagan Walker had 16 points, six assists, three rebounds and two steals while Kaitlen Weekley added eight points, three steals, two rebounds and two assists, Chloe Schlotzhauer six points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals, Abby Schupp five points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal, Natalie Rentel four points, three rebounds and one steal, Aryn Lorenz three points and two assists, Reagan McFatrich two points, one rebound, one assist and one steal and Danae Lammers also with two points.
For Concordia, Sami Brackman had 14, Mady Lauglerahr 13 and Abby Goolsby with 10.
As for the Pilot Grove boys, they faced an uphill from the start while trailing Concordia 21-12 after first period’s end, 36-30 at the half and 51-42 after three. Then, to make matters worse, the Orioles outscored Pilot Grove 22-0 in the final period to win by 31.
Mathew Gatewood had 21 and Tod Deatherage 18 for Concordia.
For Pilot Grove, who dropped to 1-6 on the season, Cole Meisenheimer tossed in 13, Bailey Quint and Gavin Shepherd 12 each, Donnavan Gerke and Dorsan Hern two each and Lucas Fahrendorf with one.
Concordia also won the boys JV game against Pilot Grove 55-30.
The Tigers JV, dropping to 1-3, trailed Concordia 26-15 at the half and then were outscored 29-15 in the final-two periods to suffer the loss.
Troy Brandt had 12 points and Alex Collier 10 for Concordia.
For Pilot Grove, Dylan Schupp had 12, Hayden Krumm seven, Dalton Reuter four, Dorsan Hern two and Luke Kollmeyer with one.
