LSE boys lose to Our Lady of Lourdes in championship game, 53-47
The Ss. Peter & Paul girls eighth grade basketball team started the annual LSE/Ss. Peter & Paul Tournament perfect and ended it that way by beating Sedalia Smith-Cotton 56-16 in the championship on Friday.
The Lady Warriors, 8-0 on the season, outscored Sedalia in all four quarters and led 12-4 after one, 23-11 at the half and 40-15 after three quarters of play. Ss. Peter & Paul also held a 16-1 advantage in the final period.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Sarah Ronnfeldt said she was very pleased at how well the girls worked as a team.
“The girls really worked the ball well and got into the lane when we needed to,” Ronnfeldt said. “We were missing a key part to our defense tonight and the rest of the team really stepped up when we needed it.”
Addi Brownfield led all scorers for Ss. Peter & Paul with 22 points, seven assists, six rebounds, six steals and three blocked shots.
Emma West chipped in 20 points, six rebounds, five steals and two assists for the Lady Warriors while Abby Fuemmeler added six points, three rebounds and one steal, Olivia Eichelberger six points, two steals and one rebound, Zoey Lang two points, seven rebounds, one steal and one assist, Hailey James five rebounds and one steal and Alyssa Fitzgerald with two rebounds.

Our Lady of Lourdes boys basketball team outscored LSE 27-19 in the first half and never looked back, beating LSE in the championship in the annual LSE/Ss. Peter & Paul Tournament on Friday.
OLLIS led LSE 9-7 after one and 27-19 at the half. However in the third quarter, the Pirates rallied back with a 11-9 advantage to cut the lead to six at 36-30. Meanwhile, in the final period, LSE and OLLIS both scored 17 points.
LSE coach Curtis Walk said the boys played well enough to win. “We just didn’t shoot well,” Walk said. “We need to make our free throws down the stretch. I am proud that we gave them everything we had. We learned a lot about the game. Our Lady of Lourdes was a very good team.”
Tikia Chievous had 16 points for OLLIS.
For LSE, who dropped to 9-3, DaWan Lomax finished the game with 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
DJ Wesolak added 13 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots while Jamesian McKee had 11 points, eight rebounds and five assists, Treveon Coleman six points, seven assists, four rebounds and three steals and Chandler Stonecipher with three points, three rebounds and three assists.
