The Ss. Peter & Paul boys and girls seventh grade basketball teams won a pair of games Friday night at home by beating Our Lady of Lourdes by the scores of 29-20 and 29-27, respectively.
The Lady Warriors, 6-2 on the season, trailed OLL 16-15 at the half before rallying back with a 14-11 advantage in the final two periods.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Sarah Ronnfeldt said this was a very evenly matched game. “We just need to learn to handle pressure on the ball better,” Ronnfeldt said. “We did a good job of going hard on defense and that won us the game. We never stopped fighting.”
Lillian Rohrbach had 12 points, four steals and one assists to lead Ss. Peter & Paul. Zoey Lang chipped in eight points, two assists and one rebound while Abby Fuemmeler added four points, one steal and one assist, Grace Williams three points and nine rebounds, Olivia Eichelberger two points, two rebounds, one steal and one assist and Leah Ziegelbein with one rebound and one assist.
As for the Ss. Peter & Paul boys, they led OLL 15-7 at the half and 23-12 after three quarters. OLL held a 8-6 advantage in the fourth.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Joe Herzog said the boys continue to play a more aggressive defense (15 steals) and are working much harder on boxing out (28 rebounds) and that generally equals good results. “The boys have bought in to this idea and will continue to get better each game,” Herzog said.
Owen Armentrout had nine points, seven rebounds, seven steals and two assists to lead Ss. Peter & Paul.
Colby Caton finished the game with six points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal while Isaac Marriott added six points, two steals, one rebound and one assist, Tyson Frederick three points, five steals, four rebounds and two assists, Max Eckerle two points, six rebounds and one steal, Bryson Wessing two points, three steals, two rebounds and one assist, Austin Rice one point, three steals, two rebounds and one assist, Carter Rowlett six rebounds and one assist and Cooper Kopine with two rebounds.
