The Prairie Home boys and girls basketball teams dropped two games on the road Tuesday night against Community R-6 by the scores of 64-58 and 58-24, respectively.
The Lady Panthers, dropping to 1-1 on the season, trailed Prairie Home 17-12 after first period’s end, 24-19 at the half and 45-20 after three quarters of play. Meanwhile, in the final period, Community R-6 outscored Prairie Home 13-4 for the victory.
“We lost big,” said Prairie Home coach Dalton Armontrout. “Defensively, it wasn’t bad. They hit some outside shots which is what we wanted. Their role players stepped up. We got into foul trouble early. Offensively, we missed about 6-7 layups in the first quarter and continued into the second. We played a good first half. We got to put together four quarters.”
Thomas had the game-high for Community R-6 with 17 points.
For Prairie Home, Maggie Wood finished the game with nine points, one rebound, one steal and one assist.
Kourtney Kendrick chipped in five points, eight rebounds, three steals and one assist while Jerzee Cantrell added four points, three rebounds and one steal, Ashlyn Twenter four points and two rebounds, Kelsey Watson two points, two rebounds and one steal and Cheyenne Jacks with one rebound.
As for the Prairie Home boys, they actually led Community R-6  20-11 after first period’s end, 32-26 at the half and 43-38 after three quarters of play but was outscored 20-15 in the final period.
“It was a good game all around,” Armontrout said. “We played well. We got stops when we needed but couldn’t convert on the other end then we couldn’t get stops when we needed and still couldn’t convert on the other end. We missed some easy chip shots underneath. Overall, I thought we played well, just have to finish and keep the foot on the pedal when we have the lead.”
Jett had 27 points to lead all scorers for Community R-6.
For Prairie Home, Creed Flood  finished the game with a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. He also had one steal and one assist.
Clayton Pethan chipped in 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists and one steal while Kassen Lock added 11 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals, Alex Rhode eight points and four rebounds, Luke Stewart five points, two rebounds and one assist, Ty Stidham three points and one steal and Sage Eichenburch with two rebounds and one steal.
