Gavin Shepperd scored a game-high 17 points to lead three players in double figures as the Pilot Grove boys junior varsity team defeated Harrisburg60-34  Wednesday night in Harrisburg.
The Tigers, 1-1 on the season, outscored Harrisburg in three out of the four quarters of play and led the Bulldogs 32-20 at the half and 42-32 after three quarters of play. Pilot Grove also outscored Harrisburg 18-2 in the final period.
Pilot Grove coach Derek Skaggs said he thought the evening was a very productive night for the forwards to get work on the court and they did extraordinary in respect to that.
“Several of our guys were able to take positives out of tonight’s contest to help them moving forward,” Skaggs said. “It was nice to be the bigger team on the court tonight and our guards did a nice job of utilizing them.”
Lucas Farhendorf chipped in 13 points while Dorsan Hern added 10, Bailey Quint nine, Cole Meisenheimer six and Ethan Williams with five.
Hudnell and Sims each had 10 points for Harrisburg.
In the JV B-team game, Harrisburg beat Pilot Grove 56-35.
The Tigers trailed Harrisburg from the opening tip as the Bulldogs led 37-23 at the half and 46-25 after three quarters of play. Meanwhile, in the final period, Pilot Grove matched Harrisburg with 10 points.
Robinson and Longdon each had 13 points in the game for Harrisburg.
For Pilot Grove, Dorsan Hern had 13, Kealin Vinson nine, Dalton Reuter six, Laben Twenter five and Derek Powell with two.
