The Ss. Peter & Paul girls eighth grade basketball team continued its winning ways Monday night at home against the Marshall Owls.
Led by Emma West with 17 points and Addi Brownfield with 15 points, the Lady Warriors defeated Marshall by a score of 46-8 to improve to 4-0 on the season.
As for the Ss. Peter & Paul girls seventh grade basketball team, they had a little tougher time but still came away with the “W” against Marshall 28-24.
The Lady Warriors eighth grade basketball team outscored Marshall in all four quarters and led 8-1 after one, 32-1 at the half and 41-6 after three. Ss. Peter & Paul also held a 5-2 advantage in the fourth to win by 38.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Sarah Ronnfeldt said the girls played hard tonight. “They worked well as a team and got the job done,” Ronnfeldt said. “Emma West really worked the post well, she owned the lane tonight.”
In addition to scoring 17 points, West also had four rebounds, one steal and one assist.
Brownfield, meanwhile, finished the game with 10 steals, six assists and four rebounds in addition to her 15 points.
Lillian Rohrbach tallied six points, two rebounds, two steals and two assists while Hailey James added four points and one steal and Olivia Eichelberger with two points and one assist.
In the seventh grade game, Ss. Peter & Paul trailed the Lady Owls 8-6 after one but rallied back with a 14-4 advantage in the second to lead at the half 20-12. The Lady Warriors also held a 6-2 edge in the third to push their lead to 26-14. However in the final period, Marshall stormed back and actually made a game of it by outscoring Ss. Peter & Paul 10-2 before bowing out by four.
Coach Ronnfeldt said not every win is a pretty win.
“This was a close game that we almost let get away from us,” Ronnfeldt said. “We lost one of our five seventh graders and the other four had to step up and find a way to get their legs under them. They worked hard and pulled if off.”
Abby Fuemmeler had the game high for Ss. Peter & Paul with 11 points along with five steals.
Zoey Lang finished the game with six points, four rebounds, three steals and one assist. Emma West chipped in four points and one rebound while Grace Williams added three points, one rebound and one steal, Lillian Rohrbach with two points and one rebound, Hailey James also with two points, Leah Ziegelbein with two rebounds, two steals and two assists, Addi Brownfield with two steals and one assist, Olivia Eichelberger with two rebounds and Alyssa Fitzgerald with one rebound.
The Ss. Peter & Paul boys and girls eighth grade basketball teams will play next on Thursday, Nov. 30th at Slater starting at 6 p.m. Then, on Friday, Dec. 1st, the Ss. Peter & Paul boys and girls seventh grade basketball teams will host Our Lady of Lourdes starting at 5:30  p.m.
Note: The Ss. Peter & Paul boys and girls basketball teams will play in the annual LSE/Ss. Peter & Paul Tournament starting on Monday, Dec. 4th.
The Ss. Peter & Paul boys will play Columbia West on Monday at the LSE gymnasium starting at 5:45 p.m. The Lady Warriors will also play Columbia West at Ss. Peter & Paul starting at 4:30 p.m.
