Natalie Glenn led three players in double figures with 12 points as the Pilot Grove girls junior high basketball team defeated Bunceton Friday night in Bunceton by a score of 51-16.
The Lady Tigers, 9-3 on the season, outscored Bunceton in all four quarters of play and led 33-9 at the half and 44-11 after three quarters of play. Pilot Grove also held a 7-5 advantage in the fourth.
Pilot Grove coach Linda Scott said all six players scored in the game for the Lady Tigers. “We had a huge first half and ran the floor well,” Scott said. “We are really playing well at this time of the season. I thought we had super passing and our pressure defense caused turnovers. The girls are playing great as a team each game and I am super proud of their effort.”
Grace Phillips and Leah Vollrath each had 11 points while Kaitlyn Maggard and Marci Lammers chipped in seven each and Danae Lammers with two.
For Bunceton, who dropped to 0-9 on the season, Laney Heilman finished the game with five points, seven rebounds and one assist.
Maylyn Sykes added four points, nine rebounds, one steal and one assist while Kylee Myers contributed three points, four rebounds, one steal and one assist, Abby Cunningham with two points, three steals and one rebound and Madison Davis with two points, two rebounds and two steals.
The Pilot Grove boys and girls junior high basketball teams will play next on Monday, Nov. 6th against Santa Fe in Alma, Missouri starting at 5:30 p.m. Then, on Tuesday, Nov. 7th, Pilot Grove will host New Franklin at 6.
