The Boonslick area will be well represented come Saturday at the Missouri State Cross-Country Championships in Jefferson City.
Although the Boonville Pirates were shutout over the weekend at the district meet in Moberly, the New Franklin Bulldogs qualified three members to the state meet in Class 1 while Prairie Home will send one runner on to Jeff City.
Freshman Mallori Burnett, who finished fifth overall last week in Moberly, will run at 10:45 a.m. at Oak Hills Golf Course in Jeff City. As for the New Franklin boys, Tyler Perkins and Sam Ridgeway will compete at 9:35 a.m.  Perkins finished seventh overall out of 30 runners while Ridgeway placed 11th.
At Bowling Green, senior Sage Eichenburch became the first runner in Prairie Home history to qualify for the state meet. Eichenburch placed 14th overall at the Class 1 District 2 Meet in a time of 18:57.21. Prairie Home coach Marie Pope said Eichenburch shaved off over 30 seconds from his previous best.
Only the top 15 runners in both the boys and girls divisions qualified for the state meet.
