The Ss. Peter & Paul girls volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season Tuesday night against Jeff Junior of Columbia while losing in three sets by the scores of 9-25, 25-22 and 6-15.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Dina Herzog said the girls didn’t serve-receive well early in Game 1. “Jeff Junior jumped out to a 15-0 but then we took advantage of some missed serves,” Herzog said. “In Game 2, we showcased our talents. We ran an offense and played defense. It was a true team effort. Then, in Game 3, it was back and forth. The momentum and excitement wasn’t there. We put forth great effort against a much larger school. However this was a very exciting match to watch. We received many compliments about our level of play from Jeff Junior.”
Addi Brownfield led the Lady Warriors, who dropped to 11-1 on the season, with eight kills and three service points with three aces. Emma West finished the match with four assists, four service points and two kills while Olivia Eichelberger added six service points, Lillian Rohrbach with five assists, Alyssa Fitzgerald with two service points and Zoey Lang with one service point.
In the B-team match, Jeff Junior defeated Ss. Peter & Paul in two straight sets 19-25 and 11-25.
Herzog said the girls didn’t come out ahead, but we hung with a much larger school who played all eighth graders. “Alison Eichelberger did a great job serving for us,” Herzog said.
Alison Eichelberger led the Lady Warriors with six service points with five aces along with one attack attempt and one assist.
Kylee Turner finished the match with four kills and one service point while Grace Williams added one kill on three attack attempts and one service point, Jordyn Fuemmeler with one kill on two attack attempts and one service point, Addie Hubach with one service point with one ace and Bailey Atkinson with one kill on one attack attempt.
