Prairie Home boys lose to Higbee 39-35

The Prairie Home girls junior high basketball team rallied from a three-point deficit at the end of the third quarter to beat Higbee 23-19 Tuesday night at Higbee.
The Lady Panthers, improving to 4-1 on the season, trailed Higbee 19-16 at the end of the third quarter before rallying back with a 7-0 advantage in the final period to win by four. Prairie Home also led Higbee 8-4 after one and 10-8 at the half. The Lady Tigers, however, dominated the third quarter with a 11-6 scoring edge.
Prairie Home coach Dalton Armontrout said it was a sloppy game. “I thought we could have played better,” Armontrout said. “Our situational basketball isn’t very good right now. We have to play smarter late down the stretch of a game. I would have liked to see us shoot better from the free-throw line than we did. Overall, we won another nailbiter and look to build up this in our next-two games against Pilot Grove and Bunceton.”
Allison Simmons had the team-high for Prairie Home with 10 points and five rebounds.
Paiton Williams finished the game with six points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals while Madison Brown added five points, a team-high 12 steals and two rebounds. Aubree Hedgepath chipped in two points while Kamden Holliday had three rebounds and one assist.
Higbee was led by Whisenand with 14 points.
