Lady Tigers clinch CAC outright with a perfect record of 6-0

The Pilot Grove Lady Tigers softball team was perfect on so many front Monday night in the regular season finale against the Slater Wildcats.
While beating the Wildcats 16-0 in four innings, the Lady Tigers also captured their first CAC title  with a record of 6-0.
But that’s not all. Junior pitcher Samarah Bailey also recorded a perfect game through four innings of play by striking out nine batters. The win was Pilot Grove’s 16th of the season in 23 games and Bailey’s 14th as a pitcher.
The Lady Tigers also led Slater from the first inning on while pushing across one in the first, six again in the third and nine in the fourth to win by the mercy rule.
Pilot Grove also out-hit Slater 10-0, with Reagan Walker going 2-for-4 with a double, triple and one RBI.
Sasha Moore finished the game with a single, triple and five RBIs while Emily Schupp added a single, double and five RBIs, Samarah Bailey with two singles, Melanie Wolfe with one double and Natalie Rentel with one single and one RBI.
Grimes took the loss for Slater by giving up 16 runs on 10 hits and four walks in 3 2/3 innings. She also struck out one batter.
The Pilot Grove Lady Tigers softball team will play New Franklin in the opening round of the Class 1 District 6 Tournament in Fayette on Wednesday starting at 7.
