The Ss. Peter & Paul girls volleyball team had been perfect through nine matches entering Thursday night’s game against cross-town rival LSE.
Having already beaten the Lady Pirates in the LSE Classic earlier in the month, Ss. Peter & Paul tried for win No. 10 at home    Thursday night in front of their home fans.
As it turned out, the Lady Warriors not only beat LSE they won the match in two straight sets by the scores of 25-18 and 25-14.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Dina Herzog said it’s tough to beat a team twice, but it’s real tough to beat your cross-town rival twice. “The girls really wanted to play hard for one of our team members,” Herzog said. “They all wanted to contribute. Although this wasn’t our best match ever played, they did win. I really enjoy coaching this group, they are willing to step up and help each other out.”
Olivia Eichelberger led the Lady Warriors with 10 service points with three kills. Addi Brownfield, meanwhile, finished the match with four service points with two aces along with 14 kills. Abby Fuemmeler had eight service points with two aces along with 19 assists while Emma West added five service points with one ace and two kills, Alyssa Fitzgerald with three service points and two kills, Hailey James with three kills and Lillian Rohrbach with one kill.
LSE volleyball coach Jessica Luscombe said the girls didn’t finish this week as she was hoping but they still did pretty good. “The girls got a lot of their hits up and really played good, we just couldn’t put the ball down on their side,” Luscombe said. “Overall, they played really well this week and have improved a lot.”
Kaitlyn Elliott led the Lady Pirates with 30 digs. Hope Mesik finished the match with seven digs and seven service points while Nora Morris added seven digs and six service points, Rayghan Skoufos and Faith Mesik each with four digs and two service points, Deana Henderson with four digs, one service point and one attack, Kadison Hammers with three digs and two attacks, Jenna McKee with three service points, Kyleigh Thacker with two service points and one dig and Kylee Johnson and Ella Kearns each with one dig.
Ss. Peter & Paul also won the B-team match against LSE by the scores of 25-20 and 25-10.
Coach Herzog said the B-team girls finally put an entire game together. “We got our serves over and had a good offense and defense,” Herzog said. “Zoey Lang was on fire with her serves.
Lang finished the match with 27 service points with 22 aces along with two kills on two attack attempts.
Kylee Turner finished the match with six service points with five aces along with two kills while Alison Eichelberger added two kills on three attack attempts with one dig, Jordyn Fuemmeler with two attack attempts and one service point with one ace, Grace Williams with two attack attempts and one assist, Bridgette Lutz with one service point with one ace and one assist, Bailey Atkinson and Addy Nichols each with one kill and Odessa Bechtel with one attack.
Coach Luscombe said the seventh grade girls are passing really well and took good hits in this match. “We didn’t move our feet very well,” Luscombe said, “but they still had a pretty good week. They know their rotation now and our serves are looking a lot better. I’m still very pleased with the way they played this week.”
Ashlen Homan led the Lady Pirates with six service points with one ace along with one dig.
Kasie Northern had two service points with two aces and one dig while Alyssa Gross added three service points with one ace and one dig, Heather Hall with four service points, Genae Hodge and Ava Parman each with three digs and Kinley/ Fox and Molly Schuster each with one dig.
