The Boonville Lady Pirates golf team had three golfers moving on to the sectional round of the state playoffs after finishing in the top 10 Monday during the Class 1 District 2 Tournament at Redfield Country Club in Eugene.
While playing 18 holes on the par 72 course, senior McKenna Stumph finished third overall with a 12-over par 84 while Olivia Reynolds placed 16th overall with a score of 108 and Mille Dorman 22nd overall with a score of 114.
Junior Jalyn Schnetzler finished the tournament in 27th place with a score of 122 while Alisa Newbold placed 34th overall with a score of 128.
In the final team standings, Father Tolton captured first with a score of 389. New Bloomfield finished second with a score of 406, followed by Eldon at 422, Boonville fourth at 428, Sacred Heart at 430, Southern Boone at 440, Marshall at 468, California at 497 and Green Ridge at 557.
Boonville Lady Pirates golf coach Rob VanderLinden said this is the first time in the history of the program that Boonville will be sending three golfers on to sectionals.
The Class 1 Sectional 1 Tournament will be held at Eldon Country Club on Monday, Oct. 2nd.
“We are going to work on our short game a lot this week trying to improve on our scores and see how many will make state the following week, which will be held at Columbia Country Club,” VanderLinden said. “I’m very happy for all the girls. Mille has worked extremely hard and the extra work has paid off. McKenna and Olivia are making their third appearance in sectionals.
Haleigh Berrery of Father Tolton captured first in the individual scoring with a 5-over par 77. Kassidy Hull of Eldon finished second with a score of 81, followed by Stumph with a score of 84, Alexandra Morningstar of New Bloomfield 85, Maddison Markland of New Bloomfield 91, Logan Belt of Eugene 95, Hannah Hartwig of Marshall 98, Sidney Fessler of Father Tolton and Claire Sobaski of Sacred Heart 100 and Ali Golden of Father Tolton and Kathryn Kelley of New Bloomfield with a 101.
