New Franklin seventh grader Carly Dorson finished fifth out of 37 runners in a time of 12:00.47  on Monday in the Salisbury Cross-Country Meet.
Hermione Pierce finished in 12th place in a time of 13:12.04.
For the New Franlin boys, Keaton Eades finished seventh out of 26 runners in a time of 10:35.65 while Clayton Wilmsmeyer placed ninth overall in a time of 10:45.02.
New Franklin middle school coach Ryan Lyons said improvement is the biggest thing.
“As a coach, that’s what I want to see more than anything,” Lyons said. “This small group of middle school runners is improving every day at practice and at every meet they participate in. Yesterday at Salisbury was no different. All four of my runners ran very intelligently and with great pride.
“It was hot, but I could tell that my kids, once again, gave all they had. Getting a medal is always what they want to achieve, but in cross country and in track, as long as your times are improving you are successful. All four of my runners were successful yesterday, posting their best times of the season.”
