Beats St. Andrews of Tipton in three sets
Fresh off from winning the LSE Volleyball Classic over the weekend, the Ss. Peter & Paul girls volleyball team added another notch to its belt Tuesday night on the road by beating St. Andrews of Tipton in three sets 25-10, 17-25 and 15-7.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Dina Herzog said in Game 1 Abby Fuemmeler ran the offense. “Olivia Eichelberger and Lillian Rohrbach served very well at crucial points in the game,” Herzog said. “In Game 2, we didn’t pass well and had too many hitting errors. We need to communicate on the court. In Game 3 I thought our passing was on and although Tipton was scrappy we outscored them. Alyssa Fitzgerald served softly to open areas and Tipton couldn’t return them.”
Addi Brownfield led the Lady Warriors with 12 kills on 20 attack attempts along with one dig.
Olivia Eichelberger finished the match with 16 service points with five aces and three digs while Abby Fuemmeler added 14 assists, three service points with three aces, one kill on three attack attempts and one dig, Lillian Rohrbach with nine service points with seven aces, two kills on five attack attempts and two assists, Emma West with three kills on 10 attack attempts and one service point, Alyssa Fitzgerald with five service points with four aces and one kill on four attack attempts, Hailey James with two kills on seven attack attempts and Zoey Lang with two service points with one ace.
In the B-team match, Ss. Peter & Paul lost in three sets against St. Andrews of Tipton 24-26, 25-23 and 10-15.
Despite the loss, Herzog said the team passed the ball very well. “We are really starting to transition well,” Herzog said. “We just need to find a way to finish. Bridgette Lutz had a great game at the net.”
Zoey Lang finished the match for Ss. Peter & Paul’s B-team with 12 service points with nine aces along with five kills on eight attack attempts and one assist.
Kylee Turner had five kills on six attack attempts along with four service points with four aces. Jordyn Fuemmeler added five kills on five attack attempts along with four service points with two aces while Bridgett Lutz had three service points with two aces, one kill on five attack attempts and one assist, Alison Eichelberger with five service points with two aces, three assists and one kill on two attack attempts, Grace Williams with two assists, two service points with two aces and two kills on two attack attempts and Ava Esser with two kills and on two attack attempts and one assist.
