Pilot Grove junior Melanie Wolfe had one of those nights on Thursday in CAC action against the Glasgow Yellowjackets.
While taking the start in the circle for the Lady Tigers, the junior hurler had perhaps her best game of the season by giving up no runs on no hits and striking out nine batters en route to a 22-0 victory in five innings.
But that’s not all. As the No. 4 hitter in the lineup, Wolfe also went 3-for-4 at the plate with one single, two home runs and six RBIs for Pilot Grove.
Of course the game was never in doubt as Pilot Grove led Glasgow 2-0 after one, 8-0 after two and 14-0 after three before plating eight more runs in the fourth.
Pilot Grove coach Neal Bailey said the girls played well. “We had disciplined approaches at the plate and hit well,” Bailey said. “It’s good to get another conference win.”
At 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the CAC, the Lady Tigers also out-hit Glasgow 14-0 with Samarah Bailey also collecting three hits in the game with one single, one double, a grand slam home run and seven RBIs.
Reagan Walker finished the game with a single, double and two RBIs while Hailey Lawrence added two singles and one RBI, Emily Schupp, Natalie Rentel and Reagan McFatrich each with one double and one RBI, Sasha Moore with one single and one RBI and Sydney Bell with one RBI.
