The Boonville Lady Pirates tennis team struggled on the road Thursday against the Kirksville Lady Tigers by recording only two wins in 12 matches for a 10-2 loss.
While the loss dropped Boonville to 3-8 overall and 1-5 in the NCMC, head coach Stephanie Green said these were competitive matches despite the end scores.
“Our doubles didn't look as together today as they have the last couple of days but with this being the fourth match of the week, we are wearing down a little,” Green said. “Thankfully Dillon/Skoufos and Browning kept us out of the shut out column again. The girls played a lot of long points and are learning the value of playing defense tennis. Rice/Collins in doubles played defensively and Collins continued that in singles keeping those matches close. It's always disappointing to lose, but if we are making progress then we are on the right track to building strong players and a stronger program through the whole line up.”

As for the only singles win, Olivia Browning defeated Kirksville’s Vanessa VanLaningham by a score of 10-6 at the No. 5 position.
