The Boonville Pirates soccer team picked up its third win of the second and second in a row by beating the Moberly Spartans on the road Tuesday night by a score of 2-0.
The Pirates, improving to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the NCMC, scored both goals in the first half at the 13 and 27 minute mark. The first goal for Boonville came at the 13 minute mark on an assist from Aaron Witting to Skyler Blumhorst while the second goal occurred at the 27 minute mark on an assist from Francesco Bona to Luke Rehagen.
Boonville Pirates soccer coach Kaz James said it was nice to get another win under their belt. “As a whole I do not think this was our best game, but a win is a win,” James said. “We had several chances on goal the entire game, but we were unable to capitalize on them. The Spartans had some dangerous plays on us, but we were able to keep them from scoring.”
While the Spartans had four more shot attempts than Boonville with seven, the Pirates finished the match with 15 shots on goals compared to 10 for Moberly.
Boonville senior goalie Avery Reardon also had a busy night with eight saves.
As for the junior varsity team, they also defeated Moberly by a score of 1-0.
Sophomore Gabe Lorenz scored the game’s only goal in the match at the 18 minute mark on the assist by Sam Esser.
Boonville’s JV, improving to 4-3-1 overall, also had three shot attempts in the match and six shots on goal while Moberly attempted only one shot.
