Eighth grade wins 44-12 while seventh grade prevails 46-0
The LSE Pirates seventh and eighth grade football teams jumped out to big leads and never looked back, beating the Versailles Tigers Tuesday night at Gene Reagan field by the scores of 46-0 and 44-12, respectively.
The LSE Pirates seventh grade football team, improving to 1-1 on the season, led Versailles 30-0 at the half and then added touchdowns in the third and fourth quarter to complete the scoring.
LSE Pirates football coach Curtis Walk said the kids really came out ready to play. “I’m really proud of how hard they have worked to get better each day,” Walk said. “Every kid contributed tonight and it was a fun and exciting night for these kids.”
Owen Armentrout led the Pirates with 10 carries for 132 yards and three touchdowns along with two catches for 47 yards and one score.
Mike Deleon finished the game with five carries for 69 yards and one touchdown while Colby Caton added six carries for 35 yards and one touchdown and Ethan Watson with three carries for 27 yards. Jackson Johns also completed 2 of 6 passes in the game for 47 yards and one touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, Colby Caton had five solo stops, two assisted tackles and two sacks. Conner Acton and TreyVonte Harris Quint each had five solo stops and two assisted tackles while Owen Armentrout added three solo stops and three assisted tackles, Tyson Ellison with two solo stops and two assisted tackles, Ethan Watson, Caiden Hazel and Cameron Poulsen each with three solo stops and Ethan Walker with one solo stop and two assisted tackles.
As for the LSE Pirates eighth grade football team, they also led Versailles from the first quarter on while taking a 32-6 advantage into the half.
The Pirates also scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to extend the lead to 44-6 before giving up one touchdown in the fourth.
Walk said the eighth grade team also played well. “Each week they get better,” Walk said. “We really threw the ball well tonight. Our offensive line played the best they ever have. The defense was also flying around the ball.”
Treveon Coleman led the Pirates with five carries for 76 yards and completed 4 of 6 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns.
DaWan Lomax finished the game with eight carries for 75 yards and one touchdown and hauled in three passes for 49 yards. DJ Wesolak had three carries for 27 yards and one catch for 76 yards and one score while Jamesian McKee added three carries for 21 yards and one touchdown.
Coleman also spearheaded the defense for LSE with nine solo stops, two assisted tackles and one sack. DJ Wesolak finished the game with six solo stops, one assist and one sack while Peyton Hahn added two solo stops and three assisted tackles, Jamesian McKee with four solo stops, DaWan Lomax two solo stops and two assisted tackles, Marquise Coleman three solo stops and one assisted tackle, Travis Dell three solo stops and Lane Keeran and Cade Schupp each with two solo stops.
