The Ss. Peter & Paul girls volleyball team opened the 2017 season on the road Monday night by beating Southern Boone of Ashland in two straight by the scores of 25-11 and 25-21.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Dina Herzog said Emma West, Lillian Rohrbach and Olivia Eichelberger served really well. “Although Southern Boone served well we ran an offense with good passing,” Herzog said. “Abby Fuemmeler took charge and set the ball. Addi Brownfield had six kills.”
Emma West finished the match in the A-team game for the Lady Warriors with 10 service points with 10 aces along with three kills.
Lillian Rohrbach had seven service points with seven aces along with one attack attempt while Abby Fuemmeler added six assists and one service point, Olivia Eichelberger with eight service points with five aces, Addi Brownfield with six kills and one assist, Zoey Lang with two service points with one ace and one attack attempt and Alyssa Fitzgerald with two service points with one ace.
In the B-team match, Ss. Peter & Paul won the first set by a score of 25-22 but dropped the second against Southern Boone 17-25.
Herzog said the girls gelled early. “I saw some exciting things that we can build on for the future,” Herzog said of the B-team.
Alison Eichelberger finished the match for Ss. Peter & Paul with five service points with one ace along with two kills, one dig and one assist.
Zoey Lang had five service points along with two digs, one kill and one assist while Kylee Turner added four service points with one ace, four assists, two kills and one dig, Grace Williams with four service points with three aces, two kills and one assist, Jordyn Fuemmeler with two service points with one ace and three kills, Bridgette Lutz with two service points and two kills, Ava Esser with one service point and one kill, and Addy Nichols with one service point.
After Tuesday’s match at home against Our Lady of Lourdes, the Ss. Peter & Paul girls will take part in the annual LSE Volleyball Classic on Saturday in Boonville.
The Lady Warriors will play two games at the Ss. Peter & Paul gymnasium against Fulton at 9:30 a.m. and Mexico at 11 a.m. Then, in their only game at the LSE gymnasium, Ss. Peter & Paul will take on the LSE Lady Pirates at 12:30 p.m.
