The New Franklin Bulldogs baseball team finished 1-1 in the Atlanta Tournament over the weekend, beating the host team 13-10 in the first game and then losing to La Plata 20-5 in the second.
In the opening game against Atlanta, the Bulldogs trailed 10-6 after six before rallying with seven runs in the top-half of the seventh for the victory.
New Franklin coach Erich Gerding said sophomore pitcher Gavin Bishop did well until the middle of the fourth. “Jackson Dorson came in and stopped the bleeding and then we finished in the seventh for our first win,” Gerding said. “We walked 16 but also walked 13 times, seven of which were in the seventh.”
Jackson Dorson picked up the win in relief for the Bulldogs by striking out three batters in 1 1/3 innings. He also gave up two hits and three walks.
Offensively, Dorson and Zac Held doubled and drove in one run for New Franklin. Gavin Bishop had a single and two RBIs  while Colten Collyott and Tysen Dowell added one single and one RBI each and Koy Harris with one single.
In the second game, La Plata jumped on New Franklin with 12 runs in the first and then sent two runs across in the second and six again in the third for the win.
Crayton Gallatin took the loss on the mound for New Franklin by giving up 10 runs on four hits and three walks in 2/3 inning.
Collyott had two singles and two RBIs to lead all hitters for New Franklin. Bishop doubled and drove in two runs while Tyler Hackman also doubled and Dorson and Held each singled.
