The Boonville 8-year-old All-Stars battled to the very end over the weekend in the Cal Ripken State Tournament in Farmington.
After losing 15-2 in the opening round on Thursday against Monett, the Boonville 8 All-Stars suffered their second loss of the tournament on Friday by losing to Carthage by a score of 11-0. Then, in two games on Saturday, the Boonville 8 All-Stars fell to both MABA National and MABA American by the scores of 14-1 and 20-1, respectively.
As for the opening game against Monett, the Boonville 8 All-Stars scored its only two runs in the second inning while Monett plated two in the first, four again in the second, two in the third, six in the fourth and one in the fifth for the victory.
Jaxon Stonecipher, Tom Monnig and Dylann Clark each had two singles in the game for Boonville while Kaden Thacker added one single and one RBI and Brennen Alberts with one single.
For Monett, Brayden Seitz had two singles and one triple while Tommy Nash added three singles and Hayden Brener with two singles.
In the second game against Carthage, the Boonville 8 all-Stars again struggled to score runs while Carthage put up six in the first, one again in the second and four in the third.
Kaden Thacker had two hits in the game for Boonville while Brennen Alberts, Tim Monnig and Landon Carter added one hit each.
In the third game against MABA National, the Boonville 8 All-Stars trailed 6-1 after one and 9-1 after two before giving up five runs in the third. Meanwhile, in the final game against MABA American, the Boonville 8 All-Stars trailed 5-0 after one, 10-0 after two and 16-1 after three before surrendering four runs in the fourth.
