The Boonville 14-year-old All-Stars won its first game in the Babe Ruth State Tournament Thursday night in Scott City by beating SEMO South 9-1.
The Boonville 14 All-Stars never trailed in the game against SEMO South and led 1-0 after one and 9-0 after four after exploding for eight runs in the fourth. SEMO South, meanwhile, scored its only run of the ballgame in the top-half of the seventh.
Bailey Quint picked up the win on the mound for Boonville. In four innings pitched, Quint struck out seven batters and gave up five hits. Lane West then came in and pitched two innings in relief and allowed one hit while striking out one batter. Then, to finish the game, Axton Nease pitched one inning and surrendered one run on three walks while striking out one.
Boonville 14s also out-hit SEMO South 12-6, with Cale Fox going 2-for-4 with a single, double and one RBI. Cody Garner and Kayle Rice each had two singles and one RBI while Bailey Quint added two singles, Jacob Vossler with one single and three RBIs, Colten Collyott and Hayden Krumm each with one single and one RBI, Lane West with one single and Spencer Steakley with one RBI.
SEMO South was led by Casen Howell with three singles and Cade Revelle with two hits.
