The 90 degree temperatures did little to stop the four person team of Gayla and Fred Smith, Curtis Walk and Seth Brimer Monday during the inaugural Pirate Ridge Scramble at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville.
With seven teams participating in the 18-hole tournament, the team of Smiths, Walk and Brimer carded a score of 133 to finish at 9 under.
The team of Bill Rapp, Greg Silvey, Omar Alrefae and Gabe Skoufus, meanwhile, placed second one stroke back with a score of 134.
The team of Jamie LeGrant, Kevin Wessing, Jerry Fisher and Thomas Simmons took third with a score of 149, followed by the team of Josh Black, Peyton Black, Jonah Brown and Bev Eichelberger at 155, Wes Wendleton, John Butner, Layrel Fox and Chris Jones at 158, Gene Cummins, Terry Ehlers, Josh Vollmer and Ed Emmerson at 160 and the team of Keith Jennings, Jason Jennings, Brad Russell and Kevin Beaman at 163.
Rob VanderLinden, the tournament director, said the $1,200 raised from the tournament, silent auction and hole contests will provide six scholarships to the youth of mid-Missouri.
