Chipley & Company and GKC-CPA’s took different paths to victory over the weekend in Instructional League play at New Franklin.
While Chipley & Company rallied past Jennings Premium Meats for a 17-9 victory, GKC-CPA’s edged Shelter Insurance in a close game by a score of 11-10.
Blaine Begamann led the hitting attack in the game for Chipley & Company with one double, two triples and two home runs.
Gavin Kelly finished the game with four singles and one triple while Korinna Chitwood added four singles and one double, Cooper Hull with four singles, Elyas Brown with two singles and one double, Dylan Miller with three singles and Alison Flick and Levi Humphrey each with two singles.
For Jennings Premium Meats, Noah Hackman had three singles and one double. Easton Gerding added one single and two doubles while Mia Dobson contributed one single and one triple, Ronnie Pape one double and one home run, Katelynn Cook and Carter Ivy each with two singles, Jackson Siebrandt with one double and Kain Studley, Kyndall Schnell and Addison Baker each with one single.
Chipley & Company trailed Jennings Premium Meats 5-4 after two innings before rallying back with a 13-4 advantage for the rest of the game.
In the second game, GKC-CPA’s had a tight one against Shelter Insurance while leading by just one (9-8) after 4 1/2 innings before pushing across two runs in the fifth to go up 11-8. Then, in the top-half of the sixth, Shelter Insurance rallied again with two runs to cut the lead back to one.
Josh Marshall had two singles, one double and one triple to lead all hitters for GKC-CPA’s. Callie Chitwood finished the game with four singles while Kenidee Richerson added two singles and one double, Kayden Young with three singles, Quincy Dorson one single and one triple, Josie Chitwood one single and one double and Casten Jennings and Ryder Dorson each with two singles.
For Shelter Insurance, David Swearengen had two singles and two triples. Belle Chitwood finished the game with one single, one double and one triple while Mason McGruder added two singles and one triple, Jonah Bishop one single and two doubles, Colten Schlotzhauer three singles and Gabe Cotton, Logan Perry, Hope Thornburg, Kallie Burnett and Brooklyn Bonecutter each with one single.
