Chipley & Company and Shelter Insurance picked up wins Monday night in Instructional League play at New Franklin.
While Chipley & Company edged GKC-CPA’s 17-16 in the first game, Shelter Insurance came back and won 9-4 over Jennings Premium Meats in the second game.
Chipley & Company trailed GKC-CPA’s 12-9 after 3 1/2 and 16-9 after 4 1/2 before rallying back with six runs in the bottom-half of the fifth to cut the lead to one at 16-15. Then, after holding GKC-CPA’s scoreless in its half of the sixth, Chipley & Company came back and scored both the tying run and winning run in the bottom-half of the inning for the victory.
Korinna Chitwood led the hitting attack in the game for Chipley & Company with four singles and one double.
Gavin Kelly had three singles and one home run while Blaine Begamann added two singles and one triple, Dylan Miller with two singles and one home run, Peyton Washburn with one single and one triple, Elyas Brown with one single and one home run, Hadley Caszatt and Cooper Hull each with two singles and Alison Flick and Addison Forbis with one single apiece.
For GKC-CPA’s, Quincy Dorson hit for the cycle with one single, one double, one triple and one home run.
Kayden Young finished the game with one single, two doubles and one triple while Josh Marshall added four singles, Daniel Hackman with one single and two doubles, Casten Jennings with two singles and one double, Braxtan Mize with one single and one double, Ryder Dorson with two singles and Callie Chitwood, Josie Chitwood and Cora Kinser each with one single.
In the second game, Shelter Insurance led Jennings Premium Meats from start to finish while exploding for five runs in the first and four again in the fifth. Jennings Premium Meats, meanwhile, plated one run in the third and three again in the fifth.
Mason McGruder led the hitting attack in the game for Shelter Insurance with one single, one double and one triple.
Logan Perry and Jonah Bishop each had three singles while Gabe Cotton, Belle Chitwood, Colten Schlotzhauer, Charleigh Collyott and David Swearengen added two singles each and Kallie Burnett and Kolton Wells with one single apiece.
For Jennings Premium Meats, Noah Hackman had two singles and one double while Haden Davis added three singles, Easton Gerding with one single and one triple, Mia Dobson one single and one double, Kain Studley and Kyndall Schnell each with two singles, Ronnie Pape with one triple and Jackson Siebrandt, Katelynn Cook and Carter Ivy each with one single.
