Huebert Fiberboard upends Tint Shop 13-3

Axis Seed closed out the 2017 season by beating Rt. B Cafe in two games 5-4 and 17-9 in the Cal Ripken Minor Postseason Tournament Sunday at the COCOBA ballfield.
Huebert Fiberboard, the league champions, also won the first of two games against Tint Shop by a score of 13-3.
In the first game against Rt. B Cafe, Axis Seed trailed 3-0 after 4 1/2 before rallying back with four runs in the bottom-half of the fifth to go up 4-3. Then, after Rt. B Cafe tied the game at 4-all in the top-half of the sixth, Axis Seed came back and plated one run in the bottom-half of the inning for the victory.
Seth Thomas picked up the win  for Axis Seed while Dakota Troost took the loss for Rt. B Cafe. Evan Bishop started the game for Axis Seed and pitched 2 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on six walks while striking out five. Thomas then came in and pitched 3 1/3 innings in relief and allowed two runs on three hits and five walks while striking out three.
For Rt. B Cafe, Jailyn Patel started the game and pitched the first-two innings and struck out four batters while giving up one hit and one walk. Payton Oeth then came in and pitched one inning in relief and walked two while striking out two batters. Then, to finish the game, Troost pitched 2 1/3 innings and yielded five runs on three hits and seven walks while striking out four.
Axis Seed also out-hit Rt. B Cafe 4-3, with Clayton Schuster going 2-for-3 with one being a double. Schuster also drove in one run. Cooper Pfeiffer had two singles and one RBI.
For Rt. B Cafe, Jailyn Patel went 2-for-3 with one being a double. Dakota Troost finished the game with one triple and one RBI.
In the second game, Axis Seed jumped out on top to stay by exploded for 12 runs in the first and five again in the second. Rt. B Cafe, meanwhile, scored four runs in the first and five in the second.
Cooper Pfeiffer was the winning pitcher in the game for Axis Seed while Jacob Thoma took the loss for Rt. B Cafe. Pfeiffer pitched the first inning and gave up four runs on two hits and two walks while striking out two batters. Wade Frederick then came in and pitched part of the first and allowed five runs on two hits and three walks. Then, to finish the game, Noah Remlinger pitched one inning and struck out three batters while giving up one hit.
Axis Seed also had six hits in the game, with Wade Frederick going 2-for-2 with two singles. Cooper Pfeiffer had one double and three RBIs while Seth Thomas added one single and three RBIs, Gaven Weimer with one single and two RBIs, Evan Bishop with one single and one RBI and Noah Remlinger with one RBI.
For Rt. B Cafe, Jailyn Patel went 2-for-2 with one being a double. Patel also drove in one run. Payton Oeth had one triple and one RBI while Ethan Henderson collected one single and three RBIs and Jeremy Birk with one single.
In the final game, Huebert Fiberboard scored early and often against Tint Shop while pushing across three runs in the first and seven again in the second to extend the lead to 10-0. Huebert Fiberboard then matched Tint Shop with three runs in the final-two innings.
Luis Green picked up the win in the circle for Huebert Fiberboard while Gage Hodges took the loss for Tint Shop. Green pitched the first-two innings and struck out six batters while walking one. Trenton Schoen then came in and pitched one inning and allowed two runs on four walks while striking out two batters. Then, to finish the game, Connor Wilmsmeyer pitched one inning and gave up one run on one hit and one walk while striking out three batters.
For Tint Shop, Hodges pitched the first-two innings and surrendered 10 runs on six hits and six walks while striking out three. Lucas Schuster then came in and pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief and allowed three runs on two hits and two walks while striking out two batters.
As for the hitting in the game for Huebert Fiberboard, Connor Wilmsmeyer went 3-for-3 with a single, double, triple and four RBIs. Cash Leonard had one single and two RBIs while Luis Green and Thomas Elliott added one single and one RBI, Isaac Watring and Camrin Massey each with one single and Trenton Schoen with one RBI.
For Tint Shop, Logan Turk had one single while Gage Hodges and Beau Walker added one RBI each.
