Cooper County Land Title and Moberly had something in common Friday night in Babe Ruth 16U softball at Rolling Hills park.
While Moberly blasted Fayette 24-4 in three innings in the first game, Cooper County Land Title came back with the shutout in the nightcap by blanking Moberly by a score of 3-0.
Of course it was all Moberly in the first game against Fayette with 11 runs in the first, seven again in the second and six in the third to win by the mercy rule. Fayette, meanwhile, put up three runs in the second and one again in the third.
Caitlyn Smith picked up the win in the circle for Moberly while Audrey Johnson took the loss for Fayette. Smith pitched all three innings and gave up four runs on three hits and 12 walks while striking out three batters. Audrey Johnson, meanwhile, pitched all three innings and allowed 24 runs on four hits and 24 walks while striking out two batters.
Moberly also out-hit Fayette 4-3, with Jaiden Rush going 1-for-1 with a double and one RBI while Danielle Anderson, Kalynn Moore and Ava Navarro each had one single.
For Fayette, Leah Lembke had two singles while Bailey Chew added one single.
In the second game, Cooper County Land Title took the lead for good with two runs in the top-half of the first and then sent one run across in the sixth inning.
Peyton Kempf was the pitcher of record in the game for CCLT, who finished the season at 7-6, while Sam Wilson took the loss for Moberly. Kempf pitched the first-two innings and gave up four hits while striking out two batters. Brooke Stone then came in and pitched five innings in relief and allowed two hits while striking out five batters.
For Moberly, Wilson pitched all seven innings and yielded three runs on seven hits while striking out 13 batters.
CCLT also finished the game with seven hits, with Jacey Fenton going 2-for-3 with one being a double and driving in one run. Cara Bishop also had a single and a double while Sylvia Bishop added one double and one RBI, Daylynn Baker also with one double and Peyton Kempf with one single and one RBI.
For Moberly, Elizabeth Cupp had two singles while Danielle Anderson, Olivia Sloan, Caitlyn Smith and Kalynn Moore added one single each.
