It didn’t come as a surprise that the top two teams during league play would be playing for the championship in the Cal Ripken Minor Postseason Tournament at the COCOBA ballfield.
Of course one team had a little tougher time than the other as Tint Shop defeated Axis Seed 10-4 while Huebert Fiberboard edged Rt. B Cafe 9-7.
Although Axis Seed jumped out on top in the first inning with a 2-1 lead, it was pretty much all Tint Shop after that with a 9-2 scoring edge. Tint Shop also led at one point by a score of 10-3 after five.
Beau Walker picked up the win on the mound for Tint Shop while Clayton Schuster took the loss for Axis Seed. Walker pitched 3 2/3 innings and struck out five batters while giving up three runs on two hits and three walks.  Lucas Schuster then came in and pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief and allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out five. Then, to finish the game, Alec Schupp pitched part of the sixth inning and gave up no runs, no hits and no walks.
For Axis Seed, Clayton Schuster pitched 2 1/3 innings and gave up eight runs on five hits and five walks while striking out two batters. Aiden Rapp then came in and pitched 2 1/3 innings and issued two runs on four walks while striking out five batters. Then, to finish the game, Cooper Pfeiffer pitched 1/3 inning and struck out one batter.
Tint Shop also finished the game with five hits, with Zack Espey going 2-for-3 with a single, double and two RBIs. Quinten Knipp had a single, double and one RBI while Alec Schupp added one single and two RBIs and Lucas Joy and Aiden Meyers each with one RBI.
For Axis Seed, Clayton Schuster went 3-for-3 with two singles and one double. Cooper Pfeiffer also doubled while Noah Remlinger added one single and one RBI.
In the second game, Rt. B Cafe led Huebert Fiberboard 2-0 after 1 1/2 before giving up three runs in the second and two again in the third. Then, after Rt. B Cafe tacked on two more runs in the fourth and one again in the fifth to tie the game at 5-all, Huebert Fiberboard came back and plated four more runs in the bottom-half of the fifth to make it 9-5. Rt. B Cafe then made it interesting in the top-half of the sixth with two runs to cut the lead back to two.
Isaac Watring was the pitcher of record in the game for Huebert Fiberboard while Payton Oeth took the loss for Rt. B Cafe. Watring pitched 3 1/3 innings and yielded four runs on five hits and one walk while striking out six. Trenton Schoen then came in and pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief and allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three. Then, to finish the game, Connor Wilmsmeyer pitched 1/3 inning and struck out one batter.
For Rt. B Cafe, Oeth pitched 2 1/3 innings and gave up five runs on four hits and three walks while striking out six. Jailyn Patel then came in and pitched 2 2/3 innings and surrendered four runs on four hits and four walks while striking out six.
Cash Leonard led the hitting attack in the game for Huebert Fiberboard with three singles and three RBIs. Thomas Elliott had two singles and one RBI while Isaac Watring added one double and two RBIs, Trenton Schoen one double and one RBI, Connor Wilmsmeyer one single and Camrin Massey with one RBI.
For Rt. B Cafe, who out-hit Huebert Fiberboard 11-8, Dakota Troost went 3-for-3 with one single, two triples and two RBIs. Jailyn Patel also had three hits with two singles and one double while Payton Oeth added one triple, Kyle Felten one single and two RBIs, Ethan Henderson one single and one RBI, Baylor Jackson and Lance Haynes each with one single and Jeremy Birk with one RBI.
