Fuemmeler Furniture Refinishings left little doubt on the season or Thursday night’s game against Fayette for that matter in Babe Ruth 12U softball by picking up the sweep by the scores of 17-5 and 14-6.
By winning both games against Fayette, FFR also finished the season unbeaten at 14-0.
Of course it was all FFR in the first game with 17 unanswered runs in the first-four innings while pushing across one run in each of the first-two frames, 12 again in the third and three in the fourth. As for Fayette, they scored all five runs in the bottom-half of the fourth.
Leah Vollrath picked up the win in the circle for FFR while Preslee Sunderland took the loss for Fayette. Vollrath pitched the first-four innings and gave up five runs on seven hits while striking out four batters. Sunderland, meanwhile, pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed 13 runs on nine hits and five walks while striking out five. Madi Lawson also pitched 2/3 inning in relief and issued three runs on three hits and one walk.
Fuemmeler Furniture Refinishings also out-hit Fayette 17-5, with Katelyn Maggard going 3-for-3 with one single, two doubles and two RBIs. Abby Fuemmeler finished the game with a single, double and three RBIs while Marci Lammers added two singles and one RBI, Olivia Eichelberger with two singles, Zoey Lang and Kaelyn Sprick each with one single and two RBIs, Natalie Glenn with one single and Leah Vollrath with one RBI.
For Fayette, Preslee Sunderland had one double and one RBI while Addison Newell and Leah Lembke added one single and one RBI, Madi Lawson, Megan Lewis and Bailee Butler each with one single and Jenny Kunze with one RBI.
In the second game, Fayette actually led FFR 5-3 after 2 1/2 but was outscored 11-2 for the rest of the game.
With the game tied at 5-all after two complete innings, FFR came back and plated three runs in the third and six again in the fourth to naildown the victory.
Olivia Eichelberger picked up the win in the circle for FFR while Madi Lawson took the loss for Fayette. Eichelberger pitched the first-four innings and gave up six runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out two. Lawson, meanwhile, pitched all four innings and surrendered 14 runs on seven hits and 10 walks while striking out five batters.
FFR also had seven hits in the game, with Zoey Lang going 2-for-3 with one single, one double and two RBIs. Olivia Eichelberger finished the game with two singles and two RBIs while Abby Fuemmeler and Natalie Glenn added one single and one RBI each, Grace Phillips with one single and Katelyn Maggard, Leah Vollrath and Kinley Fox with one RBI each.
For Fayette, Leah Lembke had one single and two RBIs while Addison Newell, Megan Lewis and Lena Richardson added one single and one RBI each, Jenny Kunze, Bailee Butler and Stephanie Nelson each with one single and Hannah Quint with one RBI.
