CARSTAR wins 10-4 over QuinlanAgency.com in the nightcap
Central Bank Boone County didn’t panic while trailing Sell’s Carpet 8-4 after 3 1/2 Monday night in the opening round of the Cal Ripken Major Post-season Tournament at the COCOBA ballfield.
With time running out and trailing by four runs, Central Bank Boone County put on its rally caps and exploded for six runs in the bottom-half of the fourth to beat Sell’s Carpet by a score of 10-8.
As for the second game, CARSTAR broke a 4-4 tie after four complete innings by outscoring QuinlanAgency.com 6-0 over the final-two innings for a 10-4 victory.
Central Bank will now play Einspahr Construction on Wednesday starting at 6 p.m. while CARSTAR battles All-American Flooring in the second game at 8. Sell’s Carpet and QuinlanAgency.com, meanwhile, will play a doubleheader on Friday at 6 and 8 p.m.
Although Central Bank Boone County wound up winning in the final inning, Sell’s Carpet led after the first three innings by leading 2-1 after one, 4-2 after two and 5-4 after three. Meanwhile, after Sell’s Carpet plated three more runs in the top-half of the fourth to extend the lead to 8-4, Central Bank Boone County came back and exploded for six runs in the bottom-half of the inning for the victory.
Alex McBain picked up the win on the mound for Central Bank Boone County while Jackson Johns took the loss for Sell’s Carpet. McBain pitched all four innings for CBBC and gave up eight runs on 10 hits and one walk while striking out two.
For Sell’s Carpet, Garrett Hundley pitched the first-two innings and surrendered two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out two batters. Clayton Wilmsmeyer then came in and pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief and allowed two runs on one hit and two walks while striking out three batters. Then, to finish the game, Johns pitched part of the fourth and issued six runs on four hits and three walks.
Ethan Watson led the hitting attack in the game for Central Bank Boone County with two singles. Ethan Hurley had one single and two RBIs while Gage Morris and Tyson White added one single and one RBI, Keaton Eads and Jefferson Day each with one single and Bentley Turner with one RBI.
For Sell’s Carpet, Clayton Wilmsmeyer went 3-for-3 with three singles and two RBIs.
Jackson Johns was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs while Garrett Hundley added two singles, Will Stock and Aiden Brown each with one double and one RBI and Zander Schuster with one single and one RBI.
The second game was just as exciting as the first as CARSTAR and QuinlanAgency remained tied at 4-all through the first-four innings. However it was all CARSTAR in the final-two innings with two runs in the fifth and fourth again in the sixth for the victory.
Cameron Poulsen was the pitcher of record in the game for CARSTAR while Shane Chamberlain took the loss for QuinlanAgency.com. Poulsen started the game and pitched 3 1/3 innings and gave up four runs on five hits and four walks while striking out five batters. Isaac Marriott then came in and pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief and struck out three batters. Then, to finish the game, Alexander Morris pitched one inning and yielded one walk while striking out one batter.
For QuinlanAgency.com, Chamberlain pitched the first-four innings and surrendered four runs on three hits and three walks while striking out seven batters. Gage Sulltrop then came in and pitched two innings in relief and issued six runs on four hits and two walks while striking out two batters.
CARSTAR also out-hit QuinlanAgency.com 7-5, with Cameron Poulsen going 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBIs. Tate Rentel had one double and three RBIs while Luke Green added one double and one RBI, Caidyn Hazel with one double, Brayden Gamel with one single and two RBIs, Alexander Morris with one single and one RBI and Reidon Colon with one single.
For QuinlanAgency.com, Owen Armentrout went 2-for-2 with two singles while Lawson Edwards and Ryan Dell added one single and one RBI each and Lane Keeran with one single.
