Boonville seniors Hannah Fuemmeler and Rosie Lenz and sophomore Sariana Barbarotta will remember the 2017 season for several reasons while finishing 16-2-1 overall and 12-0 in the North Central Missouri Conference.
While the season came to an end for the Boonville Lady Pirates soccer team in the finals of the district tournament against Pleasant Hill, the trio learned on Friday that they had been selected to the Missouri Soccer Coaches Association All-State Team for the 2017 season.
Lenz was selected to the first-team as a defender while Fuemmeler (forward) and Barbarotta (mid-fielder) were both second team selections.
Of course nobody had a better season offensively than Fuemmeler, who led the Lady Pirates with 33 goals along with 20 assists and seven hat tricks on the season. Fuemmeler also broke the all-time record for most goals in a career with 94, surpassing Allea Francis with 93 from 2008-11, and tied the career assists record with Paige Peterson with 71.
Sophomore Sariana Barbarotta, meanwhile, had 19 goals, 25 assists and four game-winning goals at the midfielder position along with one hat trick. As for Rosie Lenz, she had 13 goals and two assists at the back position and is the only player in Boonville history to be named to the all-state team three years running. Fuemmeler and Barbarotta were both first time selections to the all-state team.
Note: The Boonville Lady Pirates had nine players on the NCMC All-Conference Team for the 2017 season, six on the Class 2 District 11 Team and four selected to the Class 2 Region 3 Team.
