A-Bow-K picked up a split in Babe Ruth 12U softball Thursday night at Rolling Hills park by losing to Fayette 13-12 in the first game and winning 10-9 in the nightcap.
In the first game, A-Bow-K led 6-2 after 3 1/2 before giving up four runs in the bottom-half of the fourth to force a tie at 6-all. Then, after both teams put up three runs in the fifth inning, A-Bow-K came back and tacked on three more in the top-half of the sixth to go up 12-9. However, in the bottom-half of the sixth, Fayette rallied back with four runs for the victory.
Megan Lewis picked up the win in relief for Fayette while Emma West for A-Bow-K. Lewis pitched one inning in relief of starter Preslee Sunderland and gave up just one hit and two walks while striking out one batter. West, meanwhile, pitched 5 2/3 innings for A-Bow-K and allowed 13 runs on seven hits and eight walks while striking out 12 batters.
Fayette also had seven hits in the game, with Skylar Sunderland going 2-for-2 with one single, one double and two RBIs.
Preslee Sunderland finished the game with two singles while Megan Lewis added one single and one RBI, Addison Newell and Jenny Kunze each with one single and Madi Lawson and Leah Lembke each with one RBI.
For A-Bow-K, who also had seven hits in the game, Mia Hatter went 3-for-3 with two singles, one triple and one RBI.
Cassidy Bishop added two singles while Emma West collected one double and two RBIs, Lauren Krumm with one single and one RBI and Kailey Biesemeyer with one RBI.
In the nightcap, A-Bow-K trailed Fayette 5-3 after 2 1/2 before rallying back with six runs in the bottom-half of the third to go up 9-5. Meanwhile, after Fayette plated four runs in the top-half of the fourth to tie the game at 9-all, A-Bow-K came back and scored the winning run in the bottom-half of the inning.
Emma West picked up the win in the circle for A-Bow-K while pitching 2/3 inning in relief of starter Cassidy Bishop. Bishop started the game and pitched 3 1/3 innings, giving up nine runs on five hits and four walks while striking out three batters. West then came in and pitched 2/3 inning and allowed just one hit.
Megan Lewis took the loss for Fayette by giving up all 10 runs on 10 hits and five walks in three innings pitched. Lewis also struck out three batters.
A-Bow-K also had 11 hits in the ballgame, with West leading the team with a single, home run and two RBIs.
Cassidy Bishop finished the game with a single, double and two RBIs while Mia Hatter and Alexis Schnetzler added two singles each, Bayleigh Warren with one single and one RBI, Lexi Maddex and LaShayla Korte each with one single and Lauren Krumm with one RBI.
For Fayette, Jenny Kunze had one single and one RBI while Hannah Quint, Madi Lawson, Kenzie Felton and Megan Lewis  added one single each and Preslee Sunderland, Skylar Sunderland and Leah Lembke each with one RBI.
