Fuemmeler Furniture Refinishings wasted little time getting the lead in both games Thursday night in Babe Ruth 12U softball against Vollmer Farms at Rolling Hills park.
After exploding for 15 runs in the first in Game 1 for a 24-0 victory, FFR came back in the nightcap to reel off 16 unanswered runs to beat Vollmer Farms 16-7  for the sweep.
FFR, improving to 9-0 on the season, played only two innings in the first game against Vollmer Farms but made the most of the opportunity with 15 runs in the first and nine again in the second.
Leah Vollrath pitched all three innings for FFR and struck out seven batters while giving up four walks. Addy Nichols, meanwhile, pitched two innings for Vollmer Farms for the loss and allowed 24 runs on 16 hits and six walks while striking out two batters.
FFR also out-hit Vollmer Farms 16-0, with Marci Lammers going 3-for-4 with one double and two RBIs. Olivia Eichelberger also had three hits with three singles and three RBIs while Leah Vollrath added a single, double and three RBIs, Zoey Lang with two singles and three RBIs, Jacie Widel with two singles and two RBIs, Abby Fuemmeler with two singles and one RBI and Kinley Fox and Alexis Curtis each with one single and one RBI.
Vollmer Farms had no hits in Game 1.
In the nightcap, FFR opened the game with four runs in the top-half of the first and then exploded for six runs in each of the second and third innings of play to extend the lead to 16-0. Meanwhile, in the bottom-half of the third, Vollmer Farms sent seven runs across to avoid the shutout.
Olivia Eichelberger picked up the win in the circle for FFR while Kasie Northern took the loss for Vollmer Farms, who fell to 0-10 on the season. Eichelberger pitched all three innings and struck out four batters while giving up seven runs on two hits and five walks. Northern, meanwhile, pitched the first-three innings and allowed 16 runs on four hits and 10 walks while striking out five batters.
FFR also had four hits in the game, with Abby Fuemmeler going 2-for-2 with two doubles and four RBIs. Marci Lammers and Olivia Eichelberger each had one single while Leah Vollrath added one RBI.
For Vollmer Farms, Mary Yung had one single and one RBI while Addy Nichols added one single and Kasie Northern with one RBI.
Ashlee Pickens, Mary Yung, Addy Nichols, Kasie Northern, Grace Williams, Alexa Norman and Kelcy Mullett also scored one run for Vollmer Farms.
Lammers, Eichelberger, Fuemmeler and Kinley Fox each scored three runs for FFR while Zoey Lang, Leah Vollrath, Jacie Widel and Alexis Curtis came across once to score.
