The Ss. Peter & Paul girls sixth grade basketball team dropped three games in the Fayette Tournament over the weekend, losing to Sturgeon, Fayette and Slater.
In the opening game against Sturgeon, the Lady Bulldogs fell by a score of 36-10.
Abby Fuemmeler led the scoring attack in the game for Ss. Peter & Paul, who trailed 16-6 at the half, with six points along with three rebounds.
Leah Ziegelbein finished the game with two points, four rebounds and one steal while Zoey Lang added two points, two rebounds, one steal and one assist, Grace Williams with eight rebounds and one assist, Addy Nichols three rebounds and two steals, Carleigh Meyer and Bridgette Lutz each with two rebounds and Alison Eichelberger with one assist.
In the second game against Fayette, the Lady Warriors dropped their second  game of the tournament by a score of 26-11.
Abby Fuemmeler again had the team-high for Ss. Peter & Paul with five points along with five rebounds, one steal and one assist.
Zoey Lang finished the game with four points while Alison Eichelberger added two points and one rebound, Grace Williams four rebounds, Addy Nichols two rebounds, Leah Ziegelbein one rebound and one assist, Carleigh Meyer one assist and Bridgette Lutz with one rebound.
Fayette led Ss. Peter & Paul 14-3 at the half and then outscored the Lady Warriors 12-8 in the second half.
In the final game, Ss. Peter & Paul lost a nailbiter against Slater by a score of 17-15 in overtime.
The Lady Warriors, dropping to 1-5 on the season, trailed Slater 9-6 at the break before rallying back with a 7-2 advantage in the third to go up 13-11. However, in the fourth quarter, Slater came back and outscored Ss. Peter & Paul 4-2 to tie the game at 15-all. Meanwhile, in overtime, Slater outscored Ss. Peter & Paul 2-0.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Danny Fuemmeler said while the girls were a bit outsized the first two games of the Fayette Tournament  the team played extremely hard until the final buzzer. “The last game was a different story as the girls moved the ball well and we went to man defense in the second half,” Fuemmeler said. “While the outcome did not come out in our favor I believe the girls gave it their all.”
