The first game last night in Junior Babe Ruth was all about opportunities for KWRT.

Although Potter Transport put up a fight for the first-two innings and actually led 2-1, it was all KWRT after that while reeling off 11 unanswered runs en route to a 12-2 victory.

In a seven-inning game last night at home against Tipton, Pilot Grove struggled from the start and never recovered while losing by a score of 12-9.

Except for the Sedalia Fourth of July Tournament on July 3-5, Boonville’s JV Traveling Team couldn’t have asked for a better way to closeout the regular-season schedule last night on the road against Kirksville.

Boonville’s Varsity Traveling Team picked up its first sweep of the season last night at Twillman Field in Harley park by beating Kirksville by the scores of 5-2 and 10-0.

The Boonville 12U All-Stars had every intention of playing through the weekend during the Babe Ruth State Tournament in Monett, Missouri.

After beating the Sarcoxie All-Stars 14-4 in the opening round on Friday, the Boonville 12U All-Stars looked to be well on their way. However after losing to Heartland 21-0 in three innings on Saturday, the Boonville 12U All-Stars dropped their second game later that night against the Monett All-Stars by a score of 11-0.

The Boonville Babe Ruth 10-and-under All-Stars had a first over the weekend while competing in the Babe Ruth State Tournament at Monett, Missouri.

In only its second year of Babe Ruth softball, the Boonville 10-year-old All-Stars  will now advance to the Regional Tournament in Wellington, Kansas on July 23-26.

Citizen’s Community Bank and United Methodist Church had one of those nights last night in Babe Ruth 10-and-under softball at Lions park where everything seemed to work.

While CCB knocked off Sports-N-More 12-9 in the first game in 10U softball, United Methodist Church came back and beat Fuemmeler Furniture Refinishings in the nightcap by a score of 11-2.

The Boonville Babe Ruth 14-and-under softball team gave it their best shot over the weekend while competing in the Babe Ruth State Tournament at Monett, Missouri.

Even though Boonville’s Senior Legion baseball team dropped three games in the Sedalia Tournament over the weekend, at least they were competitive in two out of the three games while losing to Raytown 4-1 and Excelsior Springs 6-5.

For the first-four innings of Friday night’s game in Junior Babe Ruth, KWRT and Medical Arts appeared to be headed for extra innings tied at 5-all.

However, in the fifth and sixth innings of play, KWRT proved why they are in the top-half of JBR and Medical Arts in last place by outscoring MA 9-3 for a 14-8 victory.

Twillman Field in Harley park received the brunt of the damage from the strong winds Saturday night, which gusted over 60 miles per hour.
