A Facebook friend of mine has dug up THIS WONDERFUL STORY from four  years ago:

One morning back in 1977, I was having coffee with a certain prominent public official (an appointee, not a politician) whose judgment in most matters I usually respected.

By far, this is the worst part of chemo. It’s hard to explain to everyone, but when you feel good you literally have to rush to do anything and everything while you can. Time is ticking. You want to eat a nice dinner out….see a movie…. go to the spa… GO NOW! Because soon it will end, and it will be another 2 weeks or so till you feel better again… and that sucks!

I’ve been thinking about Rick’s response to the notion that our first black president has gleefully presided over the lynching of a criminal suspect. What is Rick’s response? 99% like this! As if Facebook overrides the Constitution. And then I point out that it was unlikely that the federal government could have convicted bin Laden in a fair trial, and Rick responds that this is ok, because bin Laden was a dirt bag.

1949 and James Cagney’s independent movie production company wasn’t faring so well.  Warner Brothers came calling, and he agreed to let them help produce and distribute a movie that they had the rights for and wanted him to star in, White Heat, a film noir and one of my favorites of this kind of film: gangsters, criminals, cops, untrustworthy women, and justice for all at the end.
