Dear Boonville: Talk about a change in the forecast.
After a weekend of steady and sometimes heavy rain, the sun broke through the clouds on Tuesday afternoon.
That rain might be pretty, and beneficial for plant life to boot, but it’s not all picturesque. As reported by Eric Berger, Cooper County commissioners are putting more money than normal toward repaving efforts because of all that moisture.
It was raining in a different sense of the word at the Boonville Daily News office on Tuesday.
Just about every member of our hardworking staff was working at the Isle of Capri Casino and Hotel to put on this year’s Taste of Home cooking show, which left Eric and I at the helm.
Eric worked diligently on stories, and I worked some projects while fielding calls from carriers, subscribers and people interested in attending Taste of Home.
If you spoke with me, I appreciate your patience and understanding. I have a newfound respect for the people who act as the voice of our newspaper each day.
We got a sprinkling of calls at the newspaper, certainly. I wouldn’t call it a flood, though.
By contrast, flooding has been reported on the Missouri River and Petite Saline Creek near Boonville, among other places.
How has flooding affected your travels this week?
Send us your stories and photos, and we’ll run them in the newspaper.
We look forward to hearing from you.
